 Online Therapy

We have been providing Online Therapy for several years, and during the COVID-19 crisis we had moved all services online. We are now delighted to welcome people back face to face, however understand that for many people they would like to continue working online.

We understand that for some online therapy is great, especially those who are tight with time, and are used to having online meetings. However, for others, the thought of having therapy online can make them a little nervous. We have lots of advice about how to look after yourself and get the best out of online therapy here.

We work with clients who book privately and pay their own fees, and with clients who come to us and pay via their Insurance Provider. We are currently affiliated with Bupa, Aviva, Axa, Vitality (previously Pru Health), Vita Health, Cigna and WPA. If you don’t see your insurance provider below, still get in touch - we may still be able to work with your provider.

If you would like to book in for a session of therapy, please get in touch via the contact form below. We aim to get back to you within 48 hours. We will then call you for a brief telephone consultation prior to the appointment so we can ensure that online therapy is right for you and to answer any questions you may have.

Testimonials

Our testimonials mean the world to us, and we know how important they are for future clients. At the end of your treatment we will always ask for feedback. Please find a few of them below.

I had no idea what to expect from my sessions with Natalie, and was skeptical about the impact that CBT could really have on such a long standing problem. I am very happy to say that my doubts were proven wrong. From the outset, I found it so easy to talk to Natalie, and she put my nerves at ease. She made me feel understood straight away, and I quickly began to trust her obvious knowledge and experience. I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of a clinical feel to our sessions – much less intimidating than the therapist stereotype! I really valued the balance between her friendliness and professionalism.

Thank you so much for helping me, I was in a very dark place when I came to see you and now I feel much better about my life and myself as a person. You’ve taught me some amazing techniques to help me deal with situations, I’ve been putting them to use and that have made all the difference.
— Client
From the moment I met Natalie, I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. She created a safe, open and caring space within which I was able to explore and process my emotions in a non- judgemental setting. Each session was personal and developed my emotional resilience, internal dialogue and self confidence hugely. I cannot recommend, or thank, her enough.

I found the approach we took extremely helpful in tackling my anxiety. The sessions were supportive, patient and flexible and gave me a focus in-between to practise what we discussed. A few months after finishing them, my anxiety is back ‘under control’, I’m able to manage and understand it better, and use the techniques I learnt myself. A big thank you for the help.

James helped me work through feelings of loss associated with my fiance leaving me and other issues regarding low self-esteem. For years I have been mired in the memory of our love for each other and have found it impossible to move on and form loving relationships with other Women. My work with James has changed all this and I was able to reframe my relationship with my ex-fiance in a more healthy way, and since then, I have been able to love and accept love into my life, with the result that I have just started a new relationship with a wonderful new girlfriend and we are more in love with each other than either of us could have imagined. None of this would have been possible without the work James and I did together…
— Client
I have suffered from depression for as long as I can remember. I have tried various things to remedy it but nothing worked. James provided me with a structured approach and after a few weeks I was catching some of my cognitive distortions as they were happening and the ball has been rolling in the right direction ever since. For the first time in my life I’m making actual, concrete progress.
— Client
When I started my sessions with Natalie I was in a very unhappy place. It is amazing to think how monumental the change has been in my life and my mindset since then, particularly when I consider that this change happened over less than 2 months of sessions. I am so grateful that it was Natalie who helped me on this journey. She is incredibly professional and extremely good at what she does, but what I valued most was that I always felt like I was talking to a friend. What was also evident during our conversations is that Natalie is very experienced and she draws on that experience in a way that allows you to feel confident that you are in skilled and capable hands. The progress that we made was so much bigger and so much more rewarding than I expected and I will always be grateful to Natalie for her amazing work. I would not hesitate to recommend her and I will truly miss our sessions, which are, incredibly, no longer needed.
Natalie has made such a difference in my life. She is a magical person - counsellor - support - and I would recommend her without hesitation to anyone. I had never done online counselling before, but you soon get accustomed plus it’s incredibly flexible and saves so much time, avoiding need to travel to a session etc. I sought Natalie’s help around a number of things, predominantly questions re. having children/not having children - both for psychological and physical health reasons. I must admit that on one level I wasn’t sure if anyone could really help me that much with navigating these kinds of questions. I was very happy to be proved wrong. Natalie was a super positive, professional and wonderful supporter, adviser, sounding board. In all I think we may only have had 5 or 6 sessions - but I think their effect will be with me for a very long time, perhaps for life. I learnt a great deal about myself, even after years of various other therapies. I would like to bottle Natalie McCandless - I think I’d make a lot of money. So thank you Natalie - for helping me, for being you and for what you do - from the bottom of my heart.

My sessions with Natalie gave me a huge insight into myself, and the process also encouraged me to embark on a lot of self-reflection between our sessions. They helped me take what felt like an overwhelming problem, make it manageable and allow me to approach it with curiosity instead of fear. Something I can have now have some control over. The understanding that Natalie has given me has lightened my mindset and allowed me to feel a gradual ripple effect of positivity and self-compassion throughout all areas of my life. I feel very grateful to have been matched with Natalie, and would not hesitate to recommend her services to anyone.

History

Natalie and James met whilst working as Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapists in the NHS in 2011, and they both had a strong desire to work in preventative practice, as well as working in the ‘cure' sector.

James started his therapeutic journey working in Therapeutic Communities as a Social Therapist, and later went to work at the Henderson Hospital, which he felt was both a challenging and rewarding time in his career. Later, he went on to complete his Psychotherapy training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, as well as attaining a Masters Degree in Forensic Psychology. In 2016 James joined the Chelsea and Westminster Eating Disorders Clinic where he developed a specialist interest in working in Eating Disorders.

Further to obtaining a Degree in Psychology in 2008, Natalie began her therapeutic journey working with Survivors of Domestic Abuse in Women’s Refuges. She then went on to study Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy in 2009, and gained full accreditation with the BABCP whilst working for the NHS in 2015. From 2017 - 2019 Natalie worked for the London Fire Brigade as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist in their Counselling and Trauma Service.

In 2015 Natalie and James launched London PTS, their Private Psychotherapy service, and expanded to include various Wellbeing services from 2018 and rebranded as The London Wellbeing Clinic LTD in 2019.
